TKO, maker of the PlayStation ‘Medal of Honor’ game - now primarily a PC and mobile games developer, have official opened their offices in the government-funded ‘Digital Hub’ near Dublin city center.
At first TKO’s Irish offices will focus on porting and localizing their games for the European market, over the next five years they will be looking to employ 40 people.
Recently Will Golby, general manager of TKO Software, talked to Gamire.com about the possibility of developing original games in their Irish outfit “The expansion into development is a certainty, but the timeframe for this happening will be governed by the rate of uptake for our games in Europe. Analysts predict that the wireless games industry will be worth $6 billion by 2006, so we're fairly confident that our games will find customers fast”, he added “it's great to be here”.
"We are delighted that TKO Software, has chosen The Digital Hub as its preferred location” commented Mr Philip Flynn, Chief Executive Officer of the Digital Hub “I believe today's announcement is very significant in that it places The Digital Hub at the centre of the growth in the Irish games industry. It shows that the international games enterprise cluster being created here has already reached a point where it is a magnet for international investment".
