Talking to Games Toaster, Noel Brady editor of Irishgamer.ie stated that his site is “doing better than we ever could have imagined. We've had great feedback and are getting plenty of regular visitors”.
“Features like our exclusive interviews, our DS Lite launch report, and our weekly price check have gone down a treat”, said Brady. Each week the site monitors prices at Irish retail outlets. Gamestop, Game, and Smyths send the site the information, leaving them to retrieve it from other stores.
Brady told us that they are “glad to be filling a niche as the only Irish games website which is updated regularly". The site’s news section largely reports on general games news.
Irishgamer.ie launched with a large offering of competitions, they have followed this up with a Nintendo DS as a prize for entering their weekly newsletter, and random giveaways on their forums.
Hi Cian,
Thanks for running this report. Just two small inaccuracies that I'd like to point out:
1. Two other people were involved in setting up the site so to call it mine would be unfair.
2. While we do report "general games news", alot of our news is also regarding Ireland because we are an Irish site. For example, shops often send us details of their special offers which we report on and we often contact the Irish office of companies to see if they will be following the same marketing procedures in Ireland as in other countries. For example, this week we contacted Sony Ireland when we heard about a scheme they were running where people who pre-ordered a PS3 in July in Germany would get a free game. We try to report both general gaming news and Irish gaming news so that readers get the best of both worlds.
Thanks,
Noel Brady

I heard that they got site staff on the old xbox ireland to go onto the control panel and email all xbox irelands members "saying that the xbox ireland site was finished and R.I.P and then said come over to our site irish gamer which i think is out of order .i think everyone should stop going to irish gamer and support xbox ireland they are the victims in all this.....

Yeah, let's boycott one of the only websites in years that provides a decent service to Irish gamers on the basis of unsubstantiated rumours, and support XBox Ireland, a website that, despite all their huffing and puffing, has never come across as anything other than a mediocre, run-of-the-mill amateurish site.

Well that says it all saying irish gamer is better than xbox ireland as i have just looked on irish gamer aand their last review was on 04/07/06 and it is the 28/7/06 today so a whole month with no updates at least now on xbox ireland you see updated and their are 3x more competitions to be won ....which site is amateurish now ....i think irish gamer is a joke ......

XboxIreland.com has had more then its fare share of dry spells with no new content.
Comparing the sites on news, while the vast majority of Irishgamer.ie's is general news that can be found on many sites, it's a lot better then just publishing press releases. Then IG has Price Check and other features.
I’m not “taking sides” here, just adding a bit of perspective.

Right i'm the former founder of Xbox Ireland. Irish Devil, don't know who you are but you should grow up rather then criticising another site. I've a lot of respect for the people at Irish Gamer and the work they've done so far. Also its good to see Xbox Ireland back up and running even though I no longer have anything to do with it.
From the posts i've read here, the bad blood between the two sites is gone so why can't you just leave it at that?

In all fairness, Irish Devil, I have no qualms with you but what you are posting is based completely on inaccuracies.
Our latest reviews/previews box has not been updated (because Andy who updates it is away) but we have been posting reviews. The last reviews were posted on Wednesday and are on the mainpage.
We also update the news each day and run features. There is no bad blood between us and Xbox Ireland.
As for the rumour, even the XboxIreland staff have admitted that we had nothing to do with the e-mail which was sent.
I'd prefer to see readers enjoy both sites and Gamestoaster too (hope you like the plug Cian!).

"Hahaha if that is not taking sides then what is?"
XboxIreland.com are posting full press releases as news, such is highly disagreeable with most people who visit non-official websites. People don’t expect ‘news’ to be a direct copy and paste of what the publishers etc have said. Pointing out that writing news is better then publishing press releases is fair comment.
Pointing out that, in the past, Xbox Ireland has had more then its fare share of dry spells with no new content is also fair comment.
