Mobile brain games - Upstart talks to Kotaku

Earlier this week, we reported on the slew of Brain Age knock-offs headed our way. Barry O’Neill, CEO of the Dublin-based Upstart Games, emailed us to let us know his company had been “sitting on” a cell phone brain game that predates Brain Age by about two years. Originally called Right Brain Paradise, the game was released by G-mode in Japan. Upstart’s English version is titled IQ Academy and will be on in major US and European carries this July. PHASE ONE: Developers, Publishers, and Middleware Providers
After vastly expanding our news archive’s category tags, the following is the first phase of Games Toaster’s Irish Computer Games Directory.

Part one coverers producers (developers, publishers, and middleware providers etc). This first phase, like what is to come, will be dynamic; but also contains historic entrees.

The directory comes after many years of looking at the idea of a database or similar. It is planned to expand from producers to every area of computer games in Ireland.

Upstart backs Konami’s worldwide mobile expansion

Dublin-based mobile games developer Upstart Games has signed a distribution and redesign deal with Konami Online.

The deal will see Upstart distribution and redesign Konami’s games for mobile phones in European, Asian, and the US. Konami has already placed 200 games on Japanese market, however Upstart were need because of differences in Japanese to other worldwide types of mobile phones.

The first part of the deal includes providing Konami’s games, such as the classic Frogger, to AT&T Wireless’ US mMode service priced at 4.99 USD per download.

Konami Online's President Mariko Hayashi, commented “Konami Online is pleased to be working with Upstart Games. We chose to work with Upstart as they demonstrated a strong understanding of Konami's core values and brand heritage, while delivering strong results from a technical perspective."
